Motivation behind the song:
This song was born from my internal rage of being forced to live in a system that doesn't value me other than as someone to feed itself, without it having any concern for my, and others', well-being. A system that forces most people to give up their passions and dreams to work at a job they only do because they need money in which to house and feed themselves.
The planet has been on fire since the 90s and gets worse every year; the waters of the world are contaminated by oil companies and military; bottles of water are hoarded in government facilities while communities are forced to boil water in order to be able to have safe water to drink; homes owned by the wealthy sit vacant while just down the road (and sometimes right outside their gated communities) people sleep in tents; food is thrown away because it's made in excess while people go hungry; all the while we are told we can't afford free healthcare, food and housing for all, and that we are too idealistic for imagining a better way of living as a society.
We've watched them laugh at us, call us lazy, tell us to just work harder, and when a virus began taking out a chunk of our society, they told us to suck it up and go back to work; told us to sacrifice each other for the sake of the economy. An economy that only serves the few and demands the majority of its citizens care more about money than themselves.
Capitalism is a failure and this song is my rage.
